![]() It really is a full-fledged introductory course to Blender. ![]() In the course, you’ll also model a glass coffee cup.īecause of this, you’ll want to set aside a few days to complete the course. Aside from creating the donut, you’ll also get to create a glass cup filled with coffee, creating some nice contrast with the organic styling of the donut, compared to the more rigid design of the glass cup. You’ll learn about many of Blender’s features, such as using nodes to create textures, keyframing animation, rendering settings, and more. The donut tutorial series covers a lot more than just modeling a donut from scratch. Recognizing the 80/20 Rule to help make Blender less intimidating. This helped me take a step back and breakdown the intimidation that comes with learning a new program, such as Blender. This was immediately something I could relate to from my work in programs like After Effects. He mentions the 80/20 Rule, which states that you’re going to use 20% of the features 80% of the time. One of the first things Andrew explains in the series is about what aspects of Blender you’ll use the most. Tabs and panels appear much more cohesive, and it’s easier for a beginner to get their bearings. Now the UI has a more natural structure and feel, and looks right on par with other 3D programs-like Cinema 4D and 3DS Max. However, in 2018, Blender totally revamped the UI with version 2.80. In the past, Blender’s UI always looked overwhelming for new users like myself. Your first impression will likely come from Blender’s user interface. I love that vellum is still see-through but toned down the shaker element so the front design wasn’t too busy.Trailer for the Blender Guru’s Donut tutorial series. For the shaker donut box I used Boxtop Stacklets cut from Confetti Cake cardstock and TE Foam Sticky Strips and vellum. For the donuts on the front, I stamped the background stamp then added shadow details to the donuts using Copic markers then stamped the ink on top and added a touch of white gel pen. These are so fun to use because there is no coloring! (I did do a little coloring because I’m me and can’t help myself but you definitely don’t have to!) I just about used every TE ink I have on the donuts in the background and then stenciled the Sprinkles in the background using Strawberry Milkshake ink. I got a little carried away and now have about 40 more donuts sitting on my desk… paper ones, not edible! So you will probably be seeing another donut card soon! I started by stamping and stenciling the background using Donut Days Cling & Clear Combo and Donut Days Stencil. I’ve had these donut stamps sitting on my desk just waiting for me to use them and this was a perfect time. You could also stamp on TE sticker paper and die cut to make a sticker to put on the back of your cards! ![]() I kept the dots very light so they did not bleed through the cardbase. ![]() Then I took two similar colors of Copic markers and added just a few ink dots in and around the flower and stem. To do this I stamped in Oreo and then heat set for just a couple of seconds then I used a Bitty Blender Brush with Rose Water ink and Peapod ink to very lightly ink the flower and the stem. Often times when I stamp a personalized stamp on my project I will stamp with the same color ink as the cardstock I used for my cardbase so the stamp is subtle but on white that won’t work! So I could have used SeaSalt and that would have been fun but I decided I wanted to do just a little extra and add some ink blending and Copics to the back – just a little so it didn’t bleed through. Personalized stamps are one of my favorite ways to make sure the recipient of my card knows I made it just for them and Taylor has outdone herself by designing new elegant, fun, cute, and of course a little snarky personalized stamps! For fun, Taylor and her team designed personalized stamps for all of us so I have one to share with you! Hi everyone!
